STL Sewer Camera is a referral service, not a plumbing company. We pass your request to an independent, licensed local sewer contractor, who quotes and does the work.

How Florissant's program works

  1. Apply online at My.FlorissantMO.com. A $300 deposit is required, except when you apply after a positive MSD dye test.
  2. Once the deposit is paid, the City's contracted plumber inspects the lateral and the City Engineer reviews the video.
  3. If approved, the City's sewer crew excavates, repairs, backfills and seeds. The repair date is tentative and can move for emergencies or weather. The deposit is refunded after the repair.
  4. If denied, the City keeps the deposit for the plumber's inspection and clerical costs.

Coverage: from the MSD main up to 5 feet from the home's foundation. Pipe under the home or within 5 feet of the foundation is the homeowner's cost. The program covers only laterals connected to the main sewer and excludes commercial, industrial and multifamily properties with more than 6 units. Common reasons for denial: the blockage is under the home or within 5 feet of the foundation, the defects are small or hairline cracks, or the line is open and serviceable. The City also says the program is not intended to satisfy a home sale contingency.

Cave-in or sinkhole? Contact the City's Engineering Division (engineering@florissantmo.com, 314-839-7643). The City asks MSD for a dye test. If the leak traces to the public sewer, MSD repairs it. If it traces to your lateral, you can apply without the deposit.

When you'd still call a contractor in Florissant

  • A backup now. Clearing the line comes first.
  • The problem is within 5 feet of the foundation or under the house, which the program doesn't cover
  • Buying a home. The program isn't for sale contingencies, so get a pre-purchase scope. Florissant's median year built is 1963 (ACS 2020-2024), so many laterals are 60 years old or more.
